COMMUNITY SAFETY TRAILER TO BE DEPLOYED IN PORT MOODY
The Port Moody Police Department has acquired a Community Safety Trailer thanks to provincial funding. The trailer will be deployed in the near future and here are some important takeaways for the public:
- The trailer is equipped with secure video cameras that passively record video.
- The purpose of the trailer is to be strategically deployed in various areas of Port Moody to deter criminal activity and, if necessary, provide video evidence to aid an investigation.
- The video captured is only retained in the event it may aid an investigation.
- The trailer is clearly marked and will be positioned in public places.
The trailer is powered by solar panels and it does not require an additional power source. - A privacy impact assessment has been conducted and the trailer will be deployed in accordance with applicable privacy legislation.
“We believe this is another tool that will help us deter and solve crime in our city,” states Inspector Brad Sheridan, adding that “though this is new for our community, we know many other local communities have had success with the addition of Community Safety Trailers.”
This project has been funded by the Province’s Community Safety & Targeted Enforcement Program (or C-STEP) and we are grateful for their contribution.
