DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER FLEEING ROADBLOCK
FILE: 2025-3658
A woman is facing criminal charges after allegedly fleeing from a sobriety roadblock Friday evening.
On August 8, 2025, at around 9:45 p.m., Port Moody Police frontline officers were conducting a roadblock on Murray Street. Officers flagged an Audi SUV aside after there were concerns the driver may be impaired by alcohol. The driver then immediately drove off from the check stop. The suspect vehicle was quickly located in Suter Brook Village where officers used their police vehicles to box it in, preventing the driver from continuing to flee.
Officers arrested the female driver who was later transported to the police cellblock. Officers are now recommending criminal charges relating to fleeing from police and impaired driving.
“Impaired drivers pose significant risk to all road users and we urge those who intend on consuming alcohol or other impairing substances to plan a safe ride home,” states Constable Sam Zacharias, adding “this driver was one of three impaired motorists removed from Port Moody roads last night – all within the span of about an hour.”
