EV CHARGING CABLES CUT AT REC COMPLEX
FILE: 2026-3580
Port Moody Police are investigating after multiple EV fast-chargers were damaged early Tuesday morning.
On July 28, 2026 at around 1 a.m., officers were called to the Port Moody Recreation Complex on Ioco Road by security who reported numerous EV charging cables had been cut after sensors alerted them to the damage. Officers attended the scene and noted 6 of the cables had been cut and subsequently stolen, rendering the fast-chargers inoperable.
“We are in the evidence gathering phase of this investigation which includes canvassing for possible CCTV footage,” states Constable Sam Zacharias, adding that “the chargers are currently out of commission as BC Hydro works to repair them.”
Any potential witnesses or anyone who has information on this incident is asked to contact the Port Moody Police Department.
