FIRE AT STRIP MALL

UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 4, 2025

The Port Moody Police are updating the public on a fire that seriously damaged multiple Port Moody businesses.

On September 3, 2025, just after 1:30 a.m., Port Moody Fire Rescue and Port Moody Police Department responded to a structure fire at a strip mall in the 2900 blk of St Johns Street. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters and there were no injuries.

The fire has now been deemed an arson and the Port Moody Police Major Crime Section has assumed conduct of the investigation. However, the intended target of the arson is not cooperating with investigators at this time.

“Any potential witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage in the Saint Johns corridor between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. is asked to contact us,” states Constable Sam Zacharias.

An early morning fire seriously damaged several Port Moody businesses.

On September 3, 2025, just after 1:30 a.m., Port Moody Fire Rescue and Port Moody Police Department were dispatched to a fully engulfed structure fire at a strip mall in the 2900 blk of St Johns Street.

Firefighters successfully knocked down the fire which was contained to two businesses. There were no injuries reported and the scene remains secured as both fire and police investigators work to determine a cause. Of note, St. Johns Street has now fully re-opened to traffic.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact investigators.
