FILE: 2025-3274
Port Moody Police arrested a group of youths Monday evening at a recreation facility after a report a firearm was brandished.
On July 21, 2025 at 8 p.m., officers were called to the Port Moody Recreation Complex for a report of a group of youths that had allegedly threatened another youth. It was also reported that one suspect had brandished a firearm.
Officers attended the scene and located the suspects exiting the busy facility, where a high-risk arrest was conducted and all four suspects were taken into custody. A search of one youth revealed a replica pistol [see image] along with bear spray. Criminal charges are being recommended.
“These replica firearms present a significant risk to public safety and can elicit a heavy police response,” states Constable Sam Zacharias, adding that “we are once again reminding the public that we treat all firearms as real until determined otherwise.”
