Police investigate election sign vandalism

Port Moody Police are investigating vandalism to election signs over the weekend.

On the morning of October 11, 2026, the Port Moody Police Department received a report that numerous municipal election candidate signs were defaced with spray paint in various parts of Port Moody – including the Ioco Road and Clarke Road corridors. It is believed to have occurred sometime this past Saturday evening or early Sunday morning (October 10 to October 11, 2026).

“At this point in the investigation, it seems the vandal – or vandals – targeted specific candidates,” states Sergeant Sam Zacharias. “Patrol officers have stepped up patrols throughout the city and have canvassed areas where the vandalism took place.”

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information – including dash camera footage – is asked to contact the Port Moody Police Department. Those who wish to remain anonymous can alternatively contact Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
