Port Moody Police are investigating two back-to-back serious collisions Tuesday evening.

On June 23, 2026 at about 7:15 p.m., the Port Moody Police Department and other first responders were called to the 600 block of Ioco Road for a report of a 3-vehicle collision. It is believed the driver of a pick-up truck travelled into the oncoming lane and struck two vehicles. The pick-up truck ended up off the road into a utility pole.

The driver of the pick-up truck – a 41-year-old man – was detained after allegedly failing a roadside alcohol screening test and faces criminal charges as a result. He was driving with a young child in the rear seat and also determined to be a province-wide prohibited driver. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries reported but the road was closed into the early hours of Wednesday morning as crews worked to restore the utility pole [see photos of collision].

Approximately an hour after the first collision, officers and first responders were called to a report of a hit & run on St Johns Street at Ioco Road. A cyclist was allegedly struck by a white BMW SUV of which the driver did not remain on scene. The cyclist suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries as a result. “This matter remains under investigation and we are appealing for any additional witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage to contact us,” states Constable Sam Zacharias.
