PUBLIC SERVICE COUNTER HOURS OF OPERATION CHANGE

Effectively immediately, the PMPD public service counter will operate from 8 AM to 4 PM Monday to Friday.

For almost the last decade, the PMPD was able to offer expanded hours with the Public Safety Building open past 4 PM to 7 PM Monday to Friday.  As the PMPD continues to optimize internal processes, the PMPD made the difficult decision to shift resourcing into other areas of the organization to better support operations and improve public safety.  The emergency telephone just outside the main front doors of the Public Safety Building remains available to the public 24/7.  The PMPD has seen significant improvements in the ability of EComm to provide reduced wait times for non-emergency calls and emergency calls remain well within target answer times.

Chief Constable Fleugel noted, “coupled with the improvements at EComm, we have successfully implemented online crime reporting and transitioned to an online Police Information Check system several years ago with good success.  We are just not seeing the foot traffic at to the police office in the evening hours to justify the use of precious salary dollars at those hours any longer.  Our core business hours remain unchanged.”
