ROADBLOCK NETS WANTED MAN
FILE: 2025-5400
A recent proactive roadblock netted a wanted man as well as a large number of suspected stolen goods.
On November 28, 2025 just after 11 p.m., a frontline officer who was conducting a roadblock stopped a driver who did not have a driver’s licence. The man provided his particulars and queries of his name revealed a B.C.-wide arrest warrant relating to breaching his release order.
The man was arrested and a search of the vehicle revealed property which appeared to be stolen – including hundreds of sports memorabilia cards and collector coins as well as tools. The 40-year-old Nanaimo man was held in custody to be seen by a judge.
“While we are looking for impaired and unlicenced drivers during these check stops, there is always the potential of intercepting other forms of illegal activity,” states Constable Sam Zacharias, adding that “officers did additionally remove three impaired drivers from our roads over the past weekend”.
Investigators are still processing the suspected stolen property and are working towards recommending charges.
