UNSAFE TRUCK PULLED FROM ROADWAY
FILE: 2026-1032
Port Moody Police officers observed a startling incident Wednesday morning when a commercial vehicle lost two wheels while travelling on the highway.
On March 11, 2026 around 10:30 a.m., frontline officers were travelling near a dump truck entering Port Moody on westbound Barnet Highway. Officers observed the dump truck’s two rear wheels and a brake drum become dislodged – hurling into other lanes of traffic. Officers were able to safely avoid the objects but one of the wheels did strike a bystander’s vehicle causing damage. It was determined the lug nuts were not properly fastened and the vehicle was removed from the road for a complete inspection. The driver was also issued a violation ticket by officers.
“We routinely conduct commercial vehicle enforcement in Port Moody and incidents like these reinforce the importance of this type of enforcement,” states Constable Sam Zacharias, adding that “this could have been much worse and it is fortunate there were no injuries as a result.”
