2025 -04-07:  PMPD is advising the public that our non-emergency number has recently been ‘spoofed’ by fraudsters.  The fraudulent calls appear to come from our non-emergency number but are not legitimate.  If you receive one of these calls, please do not provide any personal information.

In December of 2022, the Port Moody Police Department announced charge approval against Jesse Toews of Abbotsford after a report of a young female being “sextorted” through social media. Toews has since plead guilty to the following offences:

A man remains in custody after an alleged hospital assault Thursday evening.

On March 27, 2025 just before 8:30 p.m., frontline officers were called to Eagle Ridge Hospital for a report of a patient assaulting a medical staff member.

The Port Moody Police Department is warning the public about a spike in underground parkade property crime.

Since the start of the year, frontline officers have responded to dozens of parkade thefts and break-ins within the Inlet Centre region of the city – mainly break-ins to storage lockers and thefts from parked vehicles at Suter Brook, Newport & Klahanie buildings.

Port Moody Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying two break-in suspects.

On February 25, 2025 just after 4 a.m., a Newport Village shop was the target of a break and enter. CCTV footage depicts two suspects forcing entry into the business using a crowbar then departing in less than a minute. The suspects made off with what is estimated to be $10,000 worth of product. Frontline officers were later called to the scene and are investigating.

Port Moody Police arrested an impaired driver in a dumbfounding set of circumstances Sunday morning.

On February 23, 2025 at about 1:45 a.m., officers were called to a disturbance as a wedding wrapped up in the Moody Centre area of Port Moody. Good Samaritans took car keys away from an intoxicated man who indicated he was going to drive home. After his keys were taken away, the man became agitated, causing a disturbance and triggering the call to police. Attending officers arrested the man at scene for Breach of Peace as a preventative measure then transported him home to his Vancouver residence with the understanding he would retrieve his parked vehicle much later once sober.

On February 16, 2025, at around 5:45 a.m., Emergency Health Services requested Port Moody Police attend the parking lot of the Port Moody Rec Complex for a report of a person in medical distress. Despite lifesaving efforts from firefighters and paramedics, the male was pronounced deceased at scene.

Port Moody Police responded to an unusual burglary early Wednesday morning.

On January 29, 2025, at about 3:45 a.m., the sole occupant of a home called police after hearing someone inside of his Glenayre area house. The caller barricaded himself in a room and awaited police arrival. As police were responding, the intruder reportedly began to scream and cause a disturbance while inside of the residence.

On January 22, 2025 at about 5:45 p.m., staff at a liquor store in Port Moody’s Inlet Centre area called police after observing two young men reportedly steal liquor product then assault a citizen who tried to intervene.

On January 14, 2025 just after 8:30 p.m., the Port Moody Police Department received a number of 9-1-1 calls from Eagle Ridge Hospital. Callers reported a man waving a machete in a threatening manner and causing a disturbance inside the hospital’s emergency room, triggering a ‘code silver’ at the facility.
